Global Information: Explorers
To boldly go where no man has ever been before is what explorers do. They charter the unchartered and discover the undiscovered aspects and elements of the world in which we live. Explorers often have common incentives for their exploration. They usually crave one of the following: the discovery of trade routes, to preach religion, to conquer, to seek fortune and just sheer downright curiosity.

To explore something or somewhere new can often be extremely rewarding and this is why explorers thrive on the undiscovered. They may stumble across fine examples of art and culture, history, scientific discovery and interesting new geographic knowledge. The first expedition recorded by humans occurred in 2750 BC. It was once believed that the world was square and that sailing to the Horizon was foolhardy and would result in literally sailing off the edge of the earth.

Famous explorers include Christopher Columbus, who discovered the Americas and a whole lot more, the Vikings, Stanley and Livingstone, who bore deep into Africa's unchartered forests, and Captain Cook who sailed the seven seas in search of land. Another famous modern explorer is Captain Scott who bravely led his team in sub zero conditions to reach the South Pole overland.
