Global Information: Life on Earth
Our beautiful earth's atmosphere is filled with oxygen and water and this is a major key to making life on earth stay alive. The flora of this earth processes sunlight which in turn provides them with the energy they need to survive. The fauna of the earth, including the human race needs nutritious plant life in order to survive. Rainforests are huge biospheres, rich in vegetation and animal species. These forests experience year-round humidity and high annual rainfall that ultimately is the reason why the plant life there thrives.

Some plants found in Tropical rainforests in South America and Papau New Guinea have given scientists the hope of creating cures for deadly diseases. Elsewhere in dry, arid regions such as deserts and grassland savannahs like those found on the African continent are home to only a few shrubs due to low rainfall and consequently a lack of moisture.

The mountains of the world are so high in places that they cut off complete weather systems. Many are snowcapped and many produce huge glaciers that melt in the springtime thaws, providing water for the plains below them.

Areas of the world, normally islands, such as Madagascar and Australia are home to their own unique collection of plant life and endemic species such as lemurs and kangaroos. Some animals have had to adapt over the years to cope with the sheer extremities of the climates in which they live. The camel has learned to store water in its hump in order to survive days at a time, traversing the world's deserts in sweltering heat. Polar bears have adapted to the freezing Arctic conditions and have thick winter coats to help them combat the cold.
