Touring: Surfing Holidays
Surfing holidays offer even the novice and amateur the chance to learn more about surfing in general and develop their surfing skills. Specially certified surfing instructors, many of whom are ex-professionals offer tuition for beginners and intermediates from officially appointed surf schools. Necessary equipment is always available for hire. This includes the use of wetsuits and boards as well as changing facilities.

The very best surf schools offer courses with a maximum amount of time in the water and a minimum amount spent in the classroom or on the beach. Some schools offer the opportunity for socializing with top surfers and even champions from that region, often giving expert advise and tips from how to stay on two feet to advanced turning and how to perform other skills.

Many of the surf schools that operate around the world operate according to an eco-friendly system called 'Surfers Against Sewage'. This is an organization that campaigns for clean, safe recreational waters that are free from toxic chemicals, nuclear waste and sewage. Accommodation whilst on a surfing course is usually basic and students usually have the option of either camping outside in a tent or bunking up in a dormitory-style hostel. Neither of these options is expensive and both give the opportunity to meet like-minded travellers or surfers.
